Violence is Not Justice: A Call for Humane Conflict Resolution
Recently, a disturbing video surfaced showing a young woman being hung upside down from a tree and flogged by a group of women in a village setting. While the young woman may have been accused of wrongdoing, such brutal and dehumanizing treatment is unacceptable in any society that values peace, justice, and human dignity.
At Legends of Peace Initiative, we firmly believe that no offense justifies cruelty. True justice must be carried out with fairness, respect for human rights, and in accordance with the law — not through mob action or public humiliation.
Violence breeds more violence. When a community resorts to cruelty, it weakens the very foundation of trust, love, and understanding that holds society together.
We advocate for:
Lawful handling of disputes
Restorative justice practices that heal, not harm
Community education on peaceful conflict resolution
Upholding the dignity of every human being, regardless of their mistakes
