IN A REFLECTING GENERATION WITHOUT REFLECTIONS!

By Isaac Audu Ogoja Jnr aka Joe-Agbor.

We are a part of the mirror of this generation!
Like this generation, we have lived to reflect on events being chronicled before our very eyes!
We have reflected on leadership and governments being changed in our country, and the country entering into transformation stages with the present upheaval bedeviling us.
We have reflected on presidents sworn into power, and presidents being overthrown!
We have reflected on men before who were paupers becoming millionaires over weeks!
We have reflected on the military executing their coups, with some bloody ones!
We have reflected on the politics being played by our leaders who have shamed the tenets of what democracy stands for, and citizens, through our behaviours, have turned our society and communities into criminalized zones.
We have reflected on cities evolving from the savannah grasslands!
We have reflected on so many deaths, so much pain and madness; so much laughter and so many cries and violence from across the country!
We have reflected changes being made in our communities that were once the cradle of traditional and communal affiliations, metamorphosed into citadels of great empires with the touch of the oil of modernity and political game play in the quest for power and relevance!
We have reflected love and so much hatred.
We have reflected that men have fought and slaughtered themselves for some simple differences and struggles for identity and resources.
We have reflected on history being chronicled in the international arena! The United States of America is producing the first black president!
We have reflected on five popes being made and three dying!
We have reflected on wars being fought in several countries and children turning into bloodhounds who hunt fellow men for monetary gains, men slaughtering men and women in the worst, bizarre forms.
So much history and events are being chronicled in our existence in this generation!
“But one history we have not reflected on is the one being made by ourselves and those of our generation!
My generation and I have lived and continue to live as if we are not part of the present existence!
We have lived in solitude and emptiness, and carried on as if nothing matters, and as if we do not mind ourselves making history!
This bothers me, I don’t know about you!

  1. What a profound and thought-provoking reflection, from Mr. Ogoja Jr. You’ve painted a vivid picture of the complexities and challenges of our generation, highlighting the contradictions and paradoxes that shape our world. Like your last episode, your words resonate deeply, especially when you say, “But one history we have not reflected on is the one being made by ourselves and those of our generation!” It’s as if we’re so caught up in observing and reacting to external events that we forget to examine our own roles and our Great Forum in shaping history.
Your introspection raises important questions about our collective responsibility, our values, and our priorities. Are we merely passive observers or active participants in creating the narrative of our time? Your concerns about living in solitude and emptiness, carrying on as if nothing matters, are particularly striking. It’s a powerful reminder that we mustn’t neglect our own stories, struggles, and triumphs in the context of global events.
I share your concern very respectfully , Mr. Ogoja Jr. Let’s continue reflecting on these questions and exploring ways to make Legends of Peace Initiative our Flagship, making meaningful contributions to the history being written. What do you think is the first step toward making a positive impact?
